HubzillaCalc Privacy Policy

This policy covers the HubzillaCalc calculator app for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Windows. It is separate from the Hubzilla Maths website privacy policy, which covers accounts and lesson progress on this site. HubzillaCalc has no accounts and is not connected to the website in any way.

The short version

HubzillaCalc collects nothing. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. Nobody, including us, can see what you calculate.

What is stored on your device

The app saves a small amount of information locally so it behaves like a real calculator that remembers its settings when switched off:

• Your setup options: angle unit, display format, number format
• Your chosen theme and any custom themes you have saved
• Calculator memories: variables A–F, X, Y, M, and the last answer
• On desktop, the window position and whether it is pinned on top

All of this stays on your device. It is never transmitted anywhere. Deleting the app deletes it. If you back up your device, this information is included in that backup, which is handled by Apple or Microsoft under their own policies, not ours.

Purchases

There are none. HubzillaCalc is free on every platform, with no in-app purchases and no subscription, so there is no payment information for us or anyone else to handle.

Network access

The App Store versions for iPhone, iPad and Mac make no network requests of their own. The app works fully offline.

The Windows version and the direct download for Mac are the exception: they check GitHub for a newer release, because they cannot be updated by a store. That request tells GitHub your IP address, as any web request would, and asks only “what is the latest version number?”. No information about you or your use of the app is sent. If you would rather it never checked, use the App Store or Microsoft Store version.

If you email us

If you contact jamie@hubzillamaths.com for support, we will obviously have your email address and whatever you choose to tell us. That is used to answer you and nothing else. It is not added to a mailing list and it is not shared with anyone.

Children

HubzillaCalc is rated suitable for all ages and is safe for classroom use. Because it collects no data at all, it collects no data from children either.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will be updated. If the app ever started collecting anything, and it has no plans to, that change would be described here before it shipped.
